Dad is a pack-rat. He has been as long as I can remember.
When he moved in with me and we cleaned out his condo, we found mail, newspapers and magazines from the 1970s!
I've recently noticed that he is "stashing" newspapers in his closet, dresser drawers and under his bed. I wonder if he just wants to make sure he always has something to read?
I happened across a stack of papers from March of this year, and snatched them up, heading for the recycle bin before Dad got out of the bathroom.
But I was too late and he caught me trying to throw away his "important papers".
"Dad", I explained, "I do not want you to hoard anything in this house."
"How about hundred dollar bills?" He replied, with split second timing.
"That will be just fine." I agreed.
He may have Alzheimer's, but dang is he quick with a joke!
