I just opened a piece of mail from a local assisted living facility, inviting me to hear a speaker talk about caregiving for someone with Alzheimer's disease.
"Hmmm." I thought to myself, "It seems like I heard about this, it may be interesting." As I continued down the flyer, it read....Kathy Hatfield, our featured speaker will talk about caring for her Father who has Alzheimer's disease and the caregiver website she and her sister created.
(Oh yeah, and her fear of Alzheimer's since she forgot she had agreed to do this!)
I had to laugh as I do some speaking from time to time. I knew I had an engagment coming up, but couldn't recall the exact date or place, except that it was to be in NYC. (which was not that much help, since I live in PA) I was so very relieved the other day to get an email advertising the program. From there, I was able to make contact with the organizer and nail down the details :) Not sure if I should blame early onset Alzheimers, stress of being a caregiver for 7 years or having two young chlidren. Either way, just wondering if you are willing to go half and half for the caregiver :)
just fyi, I mentioned it in a link at my blog because we can all relate! http://www.caring.com/blogs/caring-currents/dementia-caregivers-ready-to-make-your-brain-a-promise
