About Dottie Lyvers - Dottie Lyvers currently works as the Family Caregiver Support Specialist for the Northwest Piedmont Area Agency on Aging in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  She is responsible for administering the National Family Caregiver Support Program, funded through the Older Americans Act, within her region.  In her role, she works closely with families who either care for persons with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, or an older adult needing assistance.  She assists families through education, training, respite services, and accessing local resources.  She also leads a monthly support group for family caregivers.  Formerly, Dottie spent five years working with the Alzheimer’s Association both in North Carolina and Georgia.  Dottie has a Master’s degree in Gerontology from Eastern Illinois University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Illinois State University.
